Progressive Auto Insurance – Not Necessarily the Best Deal and Here’s Why

It’s almost impossible not to have seen Progressive Insurance’s ads before. For years they have been touting the fact that Progressive allows you to see the prices of other insurance companies so you know that you are getting the best deal with Progressive. Of course, there’s something Progressive isn’t telling you.

What they are not telling you is that the companies they are comparing their prices to are not the lowest-priced companies around. If you truly want the lowest-priced auto insurance you’re going to have to compare prices with other companies that are truly low-priced.

In fact, it may be possible to easily beat Progressive’s price by 20 or even 30% without even breaking a sweat. But before we do that, let’s look at a few simple things almost any motorist can do to cut the cost of their coverage an additional 10 to 15%. If you are able to follow all of the suggestions in this article you could be looking at up to a 40% reduction in the cost of your auto insurance in the next 30 minutes.

If you’re married you can save money simply by listing the wife as the primary driver of all the vehicles in your household and the husband as the secondary driver. Since women pay less for insurance this little strategy will cut the cost of your premium.

A portion of your premium is based on the number of rush hour miles that you drive every week to and from your place of employment. If you can drastically cut the number of miles you drive to get back and forth to work you can reduce your premium a considerable amount. The easiest way to do that is to join – or start – a carpool.

If you carpool with just one other driver you will cut your rush hour driving in half every month and that should result in a sizeable reduction in the cost of your monthly premium.

Increasing your deductible will result in a decrease in your premium. Just be sure that you don’t promise to pay a larger deductible than you can actually afford.

But the Big Secret that your current broker is desperately hoping you’ll never learn for saving around 30% on your auto insurance in just the next 30 minutes is to simply buy your policy online from a company that compare prices between the low-priced online companies rather than the high to medium-priced companies.

Even though I have spent a lot of time researching and comparing online auto insurance prices in order to find the absolutely rock-bottom cheapest price I don’t want you to take my word for any of this. What I want you to do is to check out the prices online yourself and see with your own eyes exactly how much you can really and truly save when you shop for auto coverage online the right way.
